What You Probably Didn’t Know About Your College’s Health Center

If you’ve ever lived on campus and caught the flu, you may be familiar with the health center. I’d imagine it being like walking into your physician’s office and having to sit down in the waiting area for half an hour surrounded by a bunch of sick college students- as compared to sitting in a waiting room surrounded by sick old people, that is. Honestly, for the semester that I spent at a university, I never paid a single visit to my campuses health center and never even knew there was one. But for the sake of this post, I’m going to go over what else your college’s health center can do.

The information that a write here comes from the U.S. News website, so in case you thought I was crazy and that I’m just spewing out nonsense, you know now.

Making a More Responsible You

You’re away from home and no longer have your parents to take care of you anyone. For those with learning disabilities or other medical conditions, the college environment can a little more challenging than it would be for most. Fortunately for you, the people staffed at health centers are trained to provide assistance for a wide range of health conditions. That way, you’ll be able to take care of yourself later on down the road.

Preparation For a Global Pandemic

With Flu season coming around the corner, it’s best to be prepared and avoid as many people as you possibly can. The college’s health center will be prepared too as one of their roles is to help prevent the spread of infectious diseases. In fact, one of their responsibilities to to prepare for the possibility of a global pandemic, so if your campus every survives the inevitable zombie plague, you’ll know who to thank.

And I believe that’s it. I would have put a third point up here, but I couldn’t find one.

It’s a shame, I know.

If you want to know more about what your campus’ health center provides, it certainly wouldn’t hurt to drop by there and find out yourself. That way, you will also become more familiar with where it’s at and will know where to find it in the event you ever do get sick.
